The Vann GnomeThe Vann Seminar in Pre-Modern European History
The James Allen Vann Seminar is an informal gathering of scholars, graduate students, and other interested parties from the Atlanta area which has met since 1985 to discuss scholarly papers on topics concerning pre-modern European history and the relations between early modern Europe and the rest of the world. The papers, which often represent work in progress, are distributed in advance. Discusssion is lively and often interdisciplinary. Presenters may be local faculty members or students completing their dissertations. But the seminar also brings in noted scholars from around the country to discuss their work.
